Everyone basically wants the same thing in life. We want to be loved, we want to be happy and we want peace. Peace is the absence of fear, happiness is joy and gladness, and love is knowing that you are cherished and important to someone else. All of these culminate in an abundant and overflowing life. There is only One who can give us this kind of life. That One is the One who loves us perfectly, who came to bring us peace and who showed us the path of great joy and gladness.
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10b
It is a mystery and may seem impossible for those who have never known this kind of life, but it is true. Jesus Christ came to give us life and not just eternal life but an abundant life. This life is not dependent on circumstances but is a gift from Jesus Christ to those who will put their trust in Him. He is the life!
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6
This life that He gives to us is not dependent on circumstances. It is not temporal and subjective to whatever we may or not possess outwardly. This life is not dependent on whether we deserve it, for it is a gift. This life is Jesus Christ, Himself, and when we receive Him as our Lord and Savior then we receive this life.
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I John 5:12
He who has the Son of God, Jesus Christ, living within him, then this is the one who will experience life. This life is within a person and can not be taken away. It is eternal and it is also a reality now. Once a person receives Jesus Christ then He will never leave them. This life stays with the one who has Christ, forever.
for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” Hebrews 13:5b
His peace can not be taken away. We do not need to be troubled or fearful about anything.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27
His joy is within us and with us because fullness of joy comes from His presence.
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11
Gladness comes from loving what is right. We may not always know what is right or wrong but we recognize it. How many times have you said to yourself when you saw something happening that was not right, “That is not right” or “That is wrong”. We also recognize what is right and true, as when we will say to ourselves when we see life being done right, “That is so true” or “That is the right way”. If we will love what is right and hate what is wrong then we will have the “oil of gladness” on our lives.
“You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness above Your companions.” Hebrews 1:9
Love, how great it is! Love gives us worth, love energizes us and strengthens us to do things we otherwise could not and would not attempt. Love is the greatest gift. Love is what tells us that we are valued and cherished. Love is what gives us great comfort. There is no comparison to the gift of love. How do we receive this gift? For we can never truly love others unless we have known love. When we give love to others then we are truly blessed.
We love, because He first loved us. I John 4:19
The Lord loved us first. We can love because He has first loved us. We know love through God’s great gift to us.
By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. I john 4:9
This is love, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world to die for us and that we might live through Him. God’s love is so amazing that we can not fully comprehend it. It was a pure sacrificial love for us, who did not love Him nor did we seek Him.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Not only did the Lord give us His Son that we might have life but through Jesus Christ He has also given us everything else.
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Romans 8:32
Once we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior then we receive His great love. There is nothing that can separate us from His love. We may be persecuted and we may suffer in this life but no one and nothing can separate us from His love.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written,
“For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
Once you know this life and this great love which is in Jesus Christ, then you will understand that there is nothing that compares to it. It will change your perspective, your life and your destiny. It will also take away your fears, your worries, your disappointments, and any other negative thought that robs you.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8: 18
If you are anxious and fearful, then come to Him. If you long to be loved, then come to Him. If you want to be happy on the inside, then come to Him. If you are weary and tired of trying to live life, then come to Him. He will take your burdens and give you His love, His joy and His peace. A love that none of us deserve, a joy that circumstances can’t take away and a peace that will never leave us.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
